5 Tips for Finding Your Dream Role or Recruit in the Ever-Expanding Wellness Industry

The wellness industry is a busy one, and it’s highly competitive out there, as more and more people, brands, and businesses enter the market. According to the Global Wellness Institute (GWI), the global wellness economy reached US $6.3 trillion in 2023, with projections to grow to nearly US $9.0 trillion by 2028. Clearly there are enough jobs to go around, but sometimes it can be hard to know where to begin, or how to position yourself for a particular role, or career move. Which is why 1:1 coaching can help you gain clarity on your role in the industry and help you define your Unique Selling Point (USP) in a space crowded with applicants. And in this industry, it certainly helps to stand out from the crowd.

Keeping up with the demand for more wellness spaces are the business owners, launching their ventures into the world of health, fitness, and wellness, as we see more and more biohacking methodologies and self-care spaces entering the domain. Pouring time, energy, and finances into their endeavours, it’s imperative for business owners to find the right people to represent and lead their businesses. How many times have we seen a business fail simply because they had the wrong people in place? You can have the most beautiful set-up, the most expensive boutique studio, packed with top-of-the-range equipment, but if you don’t invest in the right people for your business, you won’t see the results that you are looking for, or the return-on-investment you (and your shareholders) were expecting. Which is where the 1:1 consultation and business coaching element comes in, helping you determine the details of your hiring aspirations and talent acquisition goals. Here are five tips to help steer you in the right direction:

1. Determine Your USP

Whether you’re a trainer or a business owner, your unique selling point as a professional or a business is what makes you unique in a busy industry. Get clear on what sets you apart – your unique blend of skills, experience, personality, and perspective. Clarifying your niche not only attracts the right roles or candidates, it helps you communicate your story and your value with confidence.

2. Get Specific

Find out what you are looking for from your next role and not just in the short term, but the long term too. Be clear about where you’re heading – think about the type of environment you thrive in and the mission you want to support. Consider the practical details too – ideal location, company size, responsibilities, salary, career progression, etc. This also holds true for those recruiting – starting with the details, so you hire those truly suited to the roles you are hiring for, helping to avoid a high turnover in the future.

3. Define Your Values

The wellness industry is broad; there are so many directions to go in – whether it’s the fitness route, nutrition, Pilates, holistic health, and so on. My advice is to define your value system and the impact you want to make, so your work and values align. The same goes for hiring managers who want to bring alignment to their brand ethos through their hiring strategy.

4. Build Your Brand

Whichever side you’re approaching this from, visibility matters and employers and talent want to see how you approach your work. Share insights online, publish educational content to show your philosophy and promote your ethos. Oh, and being genuine is a must, because that’s where the real alignment happens.

5. Immerse Yourself in the Community

Get involved with the wellness community around you and network within it. Remember, networking doesn’t have to be super targeted, it can be organic if you put yourself in the right spaces – you’ll meet people through training programmes and workshops, or on social platforms. The main thing is to get out there and start a few conversations.

Whether you’re a wellness professional navigating your next move, or a business-owner building a values-led team, our coaching supports you in making informed, intentional decisions. Feel free to reach out with any specific questions you may have, so we can lead you in the right direction.
